About Me.

Hello there….My name is Catherine and I live in the western suburbs of Cork City,Ireland. I have 5 grown-up children who have between them blessed me with 8 grandchildren,so far..now updated to 11 ! Oh yea, I have a hubby too! We now live on our own with 2 elderly dogs, but Misty passed away last summer at 12 years of age, bless her.. and 1 very active 1 and half year old GSD,Prince and boy does he keep us on our toes!

I was made redundant  and decided to buy a 14ft. x 20ft. polytunnel so that we could continue to extend the vegetable growing season. We have been growing veggies for years, but this will keep us fit and fed through the following weeks and hopefully months. Now as winter approaches the tunnel is almost full. Come follow my journey through the first winter under cover. Please add comments, advise and tips to help me along 🙂

  1. Wow !! What a lot of trouble, guess I’m not a gardener cause I couldn’t do any of he things you do and deal with it.
I got my tomato plant growing again this year and strawberry’s. Also planted Bush Green String beans in a pot this year and that’s it !!! 🙂

  2. Eileen….my dear friend. Thanks for stopping by 🙂
You are a gardener when you sow one seed or plant one plant. You do what you can do and that is admirable! Toms,Strawberries and bush beans sound great 🙂

  3. A polytunnel, I can only dream. Almost embarassed by my little attempts when I look at this, and you cannot be that far away either. MM 😔

    • Every little seed becomes a plant…and every year brings new hope and joy of growing our own,no matter how small. I wouldn’t have a tunnel only for being made redundant and now I am in my own happy zone 😉 I live in the western side of Cork City, on the end of the Straight Road on the way to Ballincollig !

      • Thanks for the follow and all the comments. I really appreciate people taking the time out to comment on my own wee blog. I am in Ballintemple area not far from Cork Constitution. And I caught up on you thanks to Wildsherkin. MM
